Role Placement for Group Blocks
If many Names share the same Role, it gets harder to visually connect them to the Role. Consider the 6 Production Assistants below. Is it immediately obvious to the eye that Rachelle Villalobos is a Production Assistant?
In cases like this, it's common to split out a GROUP Block out of the larger CAST+CREW block. By default, you'll get this stacked GROUP layout with the Role placed above:
But other layouts are possible, like this guttered GROUP layout with Role above:
Or, if you really need to save space, try the bulleted GROUP layout with Role above:
You can also place the Role and bulleted Names on opposite sides of the gutter:
You can even use multiple columns of Names separated from the Role by the gutter:
The first step in picking from these GROUP layouts is choosing a Role Placement:
The Role comes from the first credit in the block, cell B59 of the Google Doc in this case. No Role will appear above the GROUP block if you leave this cell blank, or if you choose Role Placement: Hide.
Note that visually, any Role above will always be confined to a single line, even if you enter line breaks into the cell.
